To understand the Norwegian Ida Ekblad, perhaps this quote about her very own reception and definition of a rubbish tip will help. "A marvellous and gigantic pile of metal pieces that reveals our state of forgetfulness and the absurdity of this world. An iron concentrate banished from the mineral kingdom in a kind of intermediate purgatory, waiting to find incarnation in new industrial products or, in my case, in sculptures."
The works and sculptures created in our workshop tell of Ida's view of the world in a fabulous and very original way. It is perhaps also worth mentioning that she recognised the beauty in the raw castings and in some cases dispensed with processing the castings altogether; in 2019, for example, she exhibited works at the Kunsthalle Basel in which the casting channels were still visible.
